Polymer clay is such a fun medium for all sorts of arts n crafts. You do not need a big variety in colours in order to have a big variety in items that you can do (in realistic colours, of course you can create purple bread if you want!!).

I have three colours of clay: orange, green & dark pink. By mixing and matching these clay colours I am able to create ten fun and simple items out of polymer clay. As you can see I am mixing sculpey premo and FIMO soft clays here. Possibly not adviced but I haven't had any issues with mixing various polymer clay brands together.
