Draw My Life | Rachel Fong
Helloooo friends! Today I’ve got a surprise for you - a DRAW MY LIFE video! :D Even though I’ve been on YouTube for 6+ years, I feel like I haven’t shared much about my own personal life. I just get so caught up in new baking/crafting ideas! So today, I thought I would catch you guys up on what happens behind-the-scenes of my life. There’s been a lot of ups and downs battling the big “monsters” in my own life (shyness and stress), and in this video, I share what my journey has been like! There’s still so much I wasn’t able to include in 11 minutes, but here’s the major pieces of my life :-) Enjoy!

FAVORITE BOOKS
Ahhh, I could honestly do a whole video on this, but here’s some of my all-time favorites:

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff for Teens by Richard Carlson - honestly changed my life, and whenever I’m feeling stressed, I’ll read a chapter of this book
Shoe Dog by Phil Knight - the founding story of Nike. Really inspired me since Knight discusses how he had shy and awkward beginnings as well
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand - absolutely incredible story. Read this!!
Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth - all about how working hard triumphs natural talent.

FAVORITE QUOTES
Let’s be real: quote can get really cheesy, really fast. But even if they’re cheesy, these ones stick for me:

“Do your best.” - this seems simple, but I constantly remind myself of this. The key word is “your.” Since you literally can’t do anything better than your best, you can’t be upset over not getting what you want if you are truly working your hardest. That means that it just wasn’t meant to be, and perhaps something else better is coming!
““If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?” - Shantideva
“Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that,” - Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass

FAVORITE OTHER THINGS

How I Build This - podcast profiling different entrepreneurs and how they built their companies
Conan O'Brien's Commencement Speech - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmDYXaaT9sA - I'm a HUGE fan of Conan O'Brien!! Of course, I love his sense of humor and think he's hilarious, but I also really admire his humility and intelligence. He was magna cum laude of his class at Harvard! Yet he's known for his "self-deprecating" humor, and I just love how he demonstrates that you can and should always be humble and gracious, no matter how smart or successful you may be.
